Career Change Success

Lisa is a young mother with big plans for her future. Capable and driven, she became her family’s breadwinner while still earning her high school diploma. She quickly saw that entry-level work would not support her growing family for long. With her fourth child on the way, Lisa came to Wisconsin Works for help starting a career that could support her family.

She quickly found her path in clerical and office work and jumped at the chance to have a work experience at the front desk of the Job Center. Learning new skills as an Office Assistant, she built a strong resume to show employers. Meanwhile, she got job seeking tools and advice that helped her apply for jobs she felt excited about.

After a few interviews, Lisa landed a great job where she gets to use her new clerical and customer service skills. She says she’s happy to have a secure job with better pay. Plus, it provides insurance for her and her family. Congrats, Lisa!
